Ryomen Sukuna is the biggest and the most powerful antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen. He is hailed as the King of the curses and is seen as a deity among the curses. He has been once slain in the past but he is now back and is a reason for a lot of trouble for the sorceres. He seems almost unkillable which raises the question, who killed Sukuna the first time? In this post, we will be discussing some of the most interesting and probable fan predictions and theories regarding this question.

When it comes to sorcerers in JJK, the biggest names are the S-Grade sorcerers which are only four in number. These four sorcerers are Gojo(deceased), Geto(deceased), Yuki(deceased), and Yuta. After the battle with Sukuna, Yuta too is gravely injured and might not make a comeback soon. With the highest order of sorcerers falling so badly, killing Sukuna almost seems impossible.

He is growing at a fast rate and started to use the curse techniques of Blood Manipulation too, so he might show us a few more interesting moves too.

Who Killed Sukuna The First Time

At the start of Jujutsu Kaisen, we saw Gojo explaining about Sukuna to Itadori. He said that Sukuna was the strongest sorcerer of his time and was slain by a group of other sorcerers. Although, he couldn’t be fully killed so they captured him and divided his body into twenty of his fingers. These fingers, act as part of Sukuna’s spirit and once all bought together, have the power to bring back Sukuna.

Gojo wanted Itadori to eat all the fingers of Sukuna and die with all the fingers inside him. By doing so, the world would be finally free from Sukuna’s presence. Right now, Sukuna is inside Megumi’s body and has a total of 19 fingers with him. The last finger was hidden away by Gojo and Yuta and its location is still unknown.

Sukuna Wasn’t Defeated But Plotted With Kenjaku

According to a fan theory, Ryomen Sukuna was not defeated but he plotted with Kenjaku to make his comeback in an era of strong sorceres. As we have seen earlier, Kenjaku had made pacts with a lot of sorcerers in the past who have now returned to the present world through the Culling Games. Kenjaku also called out to Sukuna during the Culling Games and it was sure that both of them knew each other previously too.

Kenjaku also helped Sukuna prepare for his Bath Rituals to fully assimilate the body of Megumi. Kenjaku also inhibited the body of Yuji’s mother, giving Yuji the strength and capacity to act as a vessel for Sukuna. This surely proves that Kenjaku planned Sukuna’s return.

But a major flaw with this theory is that Sukuna is very different from other curses and sorcerers that Kenjaku bought back. Ryomen Sukuna was not bought during the Culling Games and his fingers were in existence from much before. We have also seen Sukuna making his appearance through Yuji from the very first time, he ate his finger.

Yuji Is The Reincarnation Of The Sorcerer Who Once Killed Sukuna

Some fans might think that this theory is just a prediction but we already have evidence that proves that someone similar to Yuji existed in the past too. In Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter 214, we see Sukuna mentioning something about Yuji. He tells that Yuji too is from the past, a brat whom Sukuna was already aware of. He calls Kenjaku twisted as he is the reason why Yuji was born.

Now, this proves that Yuji comes from the past but what proves that he was the one who defeated Sukuna. During his battle with Yuji in chapter 214, Sukuna seems a little worried seeing the rapid growth of his strength of Yuji and seems to recall someone as strong as him. By calling Kenjaku twisted Sukuna gives a hint that he not only brought villains but also heroes from the past.

Currently, Yuji has grown a lot and gained a lot of strength in a very short amount of time too. He learned reversed cursed techniques as well as blood manipulation techniques from Kenjaku. He already had mastered using Black Flash and holds the highest number of consecutive Black Flashes.

In the last chapter, Yuji landed a massive hit on Sukuna, the biggest one we have witnessed so far in the series. This gives us a ray of hope that Sukuna might finally be defeated. Yuji can finally gain his status as the main character and prove his importance and resolve and might be the one who killed Sukuna the first time.

Sukuna Ascended From a Sorcerer To A Complete Curse

It may happen that when he had defeated all the strong sorcerers, he went into a state of deep suspension after divining his spirit into twenty of his fingers.

This theory comes from the fact that we first witnessed Ryomen Sukuna’s actual body. He was in a state of sitting, crossed legs, almost seemed as if he was sitting there praying. This theory therefore concludes that Sukuna was never killed and is now willingly back to just fight and entertain himself.
